Blizzard Trade Relkoff To Steelers
The OCN Blizzard have traded goaltender Caylin Relkoff to the Selkirk Steelers for the MJHL list rights of forward Alex Bates and defenceman Allan Gudmunson.
Relkoff, 20, went 9-4-0 with a 2.61 goals against average and a .916 save percentage for OCN last year, after being acquired from and playing one game with the Winnipeg Saints. By being traded to the Steelers, the Grand Forks, B.C. native joins his fourth MJHL team and his third Addison Division team. He has also spent time with the Southeast Blades.
Bates, 18, scored 10 goals and two assists in 37 games with the Midget AAA Norman North Stars. He now gets to start his junior career with his hometown OCN Blizzard.
Gudmunson, 17, moves away from his hometown Selkirk Steelers with the deal. He potted 21 goals in 33 games with the Selkirk Junior B Fishermen last season.

Blizzard End Exhibition Season With Win Over Stamps
A 4-0 lead is all the OCN Blizzard would need as they were able to defeat the Swan Valley Stampeders 5-3 to close out the 2006 exhibition season. Carter Chomyn, Matt Summers, Barrett Brook, Ryan Cox, and Jared Adams scored the goals for the Blizzard. Nigel Nolin stopped 32 shots for the win.

Blizzard Sign Yellowfly
The OCN Blizzard Hockey Organization is pleased to announce the signing of defenseman Manny Yellowfly.
Manny, who is from Alberta’s Siksika First Nation joins us in camp after attending the WHL’s Vancouver Giants training camp.
Manny celebrated his 18th birthday on Sept.8th by signing with us here at OCN.

Blizzard Defeat Stamps
The Blizzard won the first of a home and home exhibition series with the Swan Valley Stampeders with a 7-3 win. Matt Summers had a pair of goals while Mitch Olson, Manny Yellowfly, Ryan Cox, Keldon Sanderson, and Chad Stanley score the other Blizzard goals. Caylin Relkoff played the whole game stopping 38 shots.

Blizzard Alumni Defeat Blizzard In Alumni Game
In a game where 11 OCN Blizzard Alumni teamed with several returning veterans and some local players, the OCN Blizzard Alumni defeated the OCN Blizzard 5-3. Playing in today's alumni game were Justin Williams, Ryan Braun, Darren Kirk, Dan Joyal, Devin Salisbury, Konrad McKay, Tyler Ryhorchuk, Philip Albert, Barrett Labossiere, John O'Toole, and Ryan Constant. Players who participated in Alumni weekend but did not play included Cliff Scatch, Aaron Porter, and Garrett Hildebrandt.

Blizzard Trade Levesque to Cowichan Valley For Goalie
The OCN Blizzard has traded forward Luke Levesque to the Cowichan Valley Capitals for goaltender Justin Mulholland.
Levesque, 20, played in 15 games for OCN last season, scoring one goal and adding 48 penalty minutes. He also appeared in seven playoff games.
Mulholland, 19, went a dazzeling 14-0-1 last season with the Beaver Valley Nitehawks of the Kootenay International Junior ‘B’ Hockey League in B.C. He led the KIJHL with an amazing 1.95 goals against average and turned in another league-best .928 save percentage.

Blizzard Trade Rondeau to Wayway, Acquire Cox from Dryden
The OCN Blizzard have traded forward Miguel Rondeau to the Waywayseecappo Wolverines for the MJHL list rights of Andrew Gurba and future considerations.
Rondeau, 20, split last season with the Blizzard and Southeast Blades. He tallied 16 goals and 28 points in 51 games between OCN and Southeast.
The Blizzard also acquired the playing rights of 20 year old defenseman Ryan Cox from the Dryden Ice Dogs of the SIJHL for Future Considerations.
"Ryan is a local product that has chosen to return to the Blizzard to play his final year of junior hockey. Ryan willl add depth and professionalism to the organization. Ryan has emerged from training camp with the right attitude and commitment that we expect here in our organization." says Head Coach GM Neil Wilkinson.

CJ1240 Releases Broadcast Schedule *Schedule Updated*
CJ 1240 is pleased to announce their broadcast schedule for the 2006-2007 season. In total, 40 of the 63 regular season games (14 Home & 26 Away) can be heard on CJ 1240 and online as well, with Jamie Smalley back for his 3rd season as the "Voice of the Blizzard". The lone pre-season broadcast will be Friday September 8th in Swan River against the Stampeders. Please note that pre-game shows start 15-20 mins prior to the game.

Blizzard Training Camp Schedule Released
The OCN Blizzard are blowing into town starting today. Rookie camp starts with registration from 2pm till 5:30pm in the arena lobby. At 5:30 the team will host a meeting welcoming the players to camp followed by fitness testing at 6:00pm. Open ice this evening is from 9:00pm till 10:30pm.This will give the players a chance to get on the ice and set in the dressing room in preparation of tomorrows practices.
The Blizzard officially take to the ice Saturday with the first ice session starting at 10:15am,followed by the second group at 11:45. The afternoon session begins at 5:00pm followed by the second group at 6:30pm. Sunday’s first ice session starts at 9:00am followed by the second group at 10:30am. The rookies will skate Monday at 9:30 and 10:45am in preparation of the Rookies intersquad game that evening at 7:00pm.
Fans are encouraged to come and watch many of our future players before main camp starts on Tuesday August 22. Main camp ice schedules will be posted Monday August 21st here on OCN Blizzard.com along with a information sheet at the entrance to the arena.

Blizzard To Play Exhibition Games Against Swan And Wayway
With training camp set for this weekend the OCN Blizzard have released their exhibition schedule. The Blizzard will open their exhibition schedule at the GLMC on August 28th when they take on the Waywayseecappo Wolverines. They will then play the Wolverines on August 30th in Waywayseecappo. The Blizzard will then play back to back games against the Swan Valley Stampeders starting September 8th in Swan River.

Blizzard Name Ex-NHLer Neil Wilkinson New Head Coach/GM
The OCN Blizzard are pleased to announce they have hired ex-NHLer Neil Wilkinson as their new Head Coach/GM.
Wilkinson has ten years of NHL experience with the Minnisota, San Jose, Chicago, Winnipeg, and Pittsburgh. He also played a season with former Blizzard Head Coach/GM Drew Schoneck in Fresno.

Schoneck Resigns As Head Coach/General Manager
The OCN Blizzard have announced that Head Coach/GM Drew Schoneck has resigned from both of his positions due to family reasons. Schoneck led the Blizzard to a 37-17-5-4 record and their first Sher-Wood Division Championship since the 2002-03 season in his only season with the team. He was also named MJHL Coach of the Year and coached the Sher-Wood Division Prospects team at this season's MJHL All-Star Weekend.

Constant And Schoneck Winners At MJHL Awards
The OCN Blizzard are pleased to announce that Defenseman Ryan Constant has been named NHL Top Defenseman while Head Coach/GM Drew Schoneck has been named MJHL Coach of the Year.
Constant tallied 13 goals and 58 points in 57 games with the Blizzard and accumulated 253 penalty minutes while Schoneck guided the Blizzard to a 37-17-5-4 record during the regular seaso and sixth Sher-Wood Division Championship in eight years in his first season with the team.

Melnyk Picks Up Player Of The Month Honors
The OCN Blizzard are proud to announce that Don Melnyk has been named Sher-Wood Hockey Player of the Month. Melnyk had nine goals and 12 assists in the month of March, as OCN defeated the Swan Valley Stamepeders in their Sher-Wood Division semifinal and coming back to beat the Dauphin Kings in seven games in the Sher-Wood Division final.
Goaltender Mark Kehrig was also named runner-up for Goalie of the Month and forward Scott Sack was runner-up for Rookie of the Month.

Blizzard Open Finals Friday In Winnipeg
Despite ending the season with one more point than the Blues the OCN Blizzard will start the MJHL Finals in Winnipeg due to a rule set by the league where home ice between divisions alternates each season. The series will start Friday and Saturday at the St. James Civic Centre which is the former home of the now defunct St. James Canadians. The series will then shift back to the GLMC on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Blizzard Complete Comeback With Shutout Win
In what turned out to be the final game at the Dauphin Memorial Community Complex, the OCN Blizzard completed their first 3-1 series comeback in franchise history with a 3-0 win over the Dauphin Kings to move onto the MJHL finals against the Winnipeg South Blues. Kehrig Picks Up Player Of The Week Honors
The OCN Blizzard are proud to announce that goaltender Mark Kehrig has been named the Old Dutch Player of the Week. Kehrig led the OCN Blizzard past the Swan Valley Stampeders 4-1 in their best-of-seven Sher-Wood Division Semi-Final with a 1.00 goals against average and .970 save percentage last week. His record for the week was 2-1.

New Online Broadcast Link, Playoff Schedule Released.
With the recent problems with the online broadcasts, CJ1240 has decided to switch providers. Online broadcasts can now be heard at stream.netro.ca/cjar. There is no signup required and the number of spots are unlimited. Tonight's game should be broadcasted but if it is not it will be ready for game 1 of the playoffs against the Swan Valley Stampeders.

Blizzard Slip Past Flyers In OT
Ryan Constant's goal 1:17 into overtime lifted the OCN Blizzard over the Winkler Flyers 2-1. Don Melnyk scored the other Blizzard goal while Mark Kehrig stopped 21 shots.

Constant Picks Up Defenseman Of The Month Honors
The OCN Blizzard are proud to announce that Defenseman Ryan Constant has picked up the Connexion Truck Centre MJHL Defenseman of the Month for January. Constant led MJHL defensemen in scoring throughout January with four goals and seven assists in 10 games.

Blizzard Blow Away Wolverines
Kyle Annesley and Matt Summers had a pair of goals each as the OCN Blizzard jumped into first place overall with a 8-2 win over the Waywayseecappo Wolverines. Miguel Rondeau, Jordan Inglis, Don Melnyk, and Carter Chomyn all had a goal each while Caylin Relkoff stopped 28 shots for the win.

Late Goal Salvages Tie With Terriers
After dominating the Portage Terriers thoughout most of the game the OCN Blizzard were finally able to solve Terriers goalie Stan Gregorowich with 58 seconds left on a goal by Don Melnyk to salvage a 1-1 tie with the Terriers. Mark Kehrig stopped 21 shots for the tie.

Blizzard Come Back To Defeat Saints
Matt Summers' goal with 5:31 left in the third period turned out to be the winner as the OCN Blizzard scored three times in the third period to defeat the Winnipeg Saints 5-3. Chase Cunningham, Ryan Adams, Brian Schallenhammer, and Jordan Inglis also scored for the Blizzard while Mark Kehrig stopped 26 shots.

Blizzard Struggle Against Terriers
The OCN Blizzard were unable to ride off the momentum from last night's win in Winnipeg as they struggled tonight and were defeated by the Portage Terriers 5-1. Kyle Annesley scored the only Blizzard goal and Mark Kehrig allowed 5 goals on 29 shots before being replaced by Caylin Relkoff during the 2nd intermission who stopped all 8 shots he faced.

Blizzard Acquire Adams From Blades
The OCN Blizzard have acquired defenseman Ryan Adams from the Southeast Blades for the MJHL list rights of defenseman Bryce McClintock and future considerations.
Adams, 19 of Deloraine, Manitoba, was acquired by the Blades from the Dauphin Kings on September 21, 2005. Adams never played with the Blades, choosing instead to report to the Fargo-Moorhead Jets of the North American Hockey League. He has played in 17 games for the Jets this season, scoring twice and adding eight assists.
Adams appeared in all 63 games for the Kings last season; scoring four goals and adding 15 assists. He also played in all six of Dauphin's playoff games, earning two points.
McClintock, 16 of Stonewall, Manitoba, is currently with the Interlake Lightning of the Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League. He has eight assists in 23 games this season.

Blizzard Trade Holfeld And Rempel To Selkirk In Three-Way Trade
The OCN Blizzard have traded rookie defenseman Darcy Holfeld and rookie forward Casey Rempel to the Selkirk Steelers for Future Considerations. The Steelers then sent Holfeld and Rempel to the Kindersley Kippers for forward Curtis Graham.

Blizzard Make a Pair of Deals As Trade Deadline Approaches
With the trade deadline tomorrow night at midnight the OCN Blizzard have made one trade and one signing.
The Blizzard have acquired 19 year old forward Luke Levesque from the La Ronge Ice Wolves for Future Considerations. Levesque played three games for the Ice Wolves this year going pointless before being called up by the QMJHL's Victoriaville Tigers where he picked up a goal and an assist in 11 games. to go along with 19 PIM.
The Blizzard also signed 20 year old WHL veteren forward Kyle Annesley. Annesley split time between the Everett Silvertips and Medicine Hat Tigers this season picking up 2 goals in 10 games. In 5 WHL seasons split between the Silvertips, Tigers, and also the Calgary Hitmen and Swift Current Broncos he picked up 28 goals and 37 assists. He expected to play on the second line with Lem Randall and Jordan Inglis.
Both players are expected to be in the lineup tonight against the Waywayseecappo Wolverines.

Ten Blizzard To Participate In All-Star Weekend
The rosters for the 2006 MJHL All-Star Challenge and Prospects game have been named and ten Blizzard will be participating.
Forwards Don Melnyk, Matt Summers, Lem Randall, and Carter Chomyn were named to the Sherwood Division All-Stars as well as Defenseman Ryan Constant and Goaltender Mark Kehrig.
Forward Scott Sack and Defensemen Dane Voegtlin and Darcy Hofeld were named to the Sherwood Division Prospects team which will be coached by Blizzard Head Coach/GM Drew Schoneck.
