FLAMES RAIN DOWN ON NORTH WINNIPEG

Marlin Rain returned from a three game suspension to score two goals and one assist in giving the Nelson House NCN Flames a 4-1 victory over the North Winnipeg Satelites and a two-games-to-none lead in the best of five provincial Junior "B" hockey championship.

The Satelites must now not only win three games in a row, but they must also win three games in a row up north as the Flames came down south and left with a pair of crucial victories putting a Northwest Junior Hockey League team within a single win of representing Manitoba at the Western Canadian Junior "B" Championships to be held in April in Assiniboia, Saskatchewan. Should the Flames advance, it would be the first time ever that a team from the NJHL has gone to the tourney as a Manitoba representative.

Rain set-up a Dale Jonasson goal at 11:53 of the first, and then scored one of his own just over four minutes later to make it 2-0 for the Flames after one.

Tristan Feldvari scored at 1:25 of the second to give the Satelites some hope, but two minutes after that Frankie Dicks regained the two goal lead for Nelson House.

Once again, former Satelite Mike Malchuk was instrumental in the decision, as he made 27-saves. Mike Johnson stopped 29-shots in the North Winnipeg cage.

Rain scored again a minute and a half into the third period to round out the scoring.

The series resumes next weekend with the Flames as the home team.
