Your
decision on where you will play for the next 1-4 years of your career
will be a very crucial one for you as a player and as a person.
We have listed below some of the considerations to be mindful of and
some strong reasons the Blizzard could be the right choice for you.
Education
The community of The Pas offers
educational opportunities second to none in Western Canada for a Junior
Hockey player. Players still finishing their high school may attend
either Joe A. Ross or Margaret Barbour Collegiate. The highly
renown Keewatin Community College offers 12 different Post Secondary
programs specializing in technical and occupational course loads.
As well as 45 first year University courses are available through the
FYDE program at MBCI.
Development
This season our club
will play a 64 game schedule plus exhibition and playoffs. We
will practice on a daily basis (4:00 pm to allow for school) and expect
to have over 100 practice sessions to further develop individual and
team skills. In addition we also have access to a complete and
modern weight facility in our arena which will be used to fully compliment
our off ice training program.
Coaching
We are very fortunate
to be one of only a few clubs in the MJHL to have a full time Coach
and Assistant to work with our players. Not only will they work
on team and player development but also on player advancement as well.
In addition to our top quality staff the Blizzard also have a Director
of Hockey, Marketing Director, Trainer, and Office Manager.
Player
Needs
The
Blizzard will be recruiting top quality players who are committed to
excellence. We want to continue to present ourselves as a very
hard working and enthusiastic club. In return we will treat our
players in a first class way... in fact it is safe to say that the "Blizzard"
will be treated as well as any Junior team in Canada!! Our club
will be responsible for room and board, outer equipment, player honorariums
and all educational costs while playing for our club. In addition
we have budgeted an individual player allocation for team sportswear.
We are very proud of establishing a college scholarship fund for every
graduating player.
